Title	Activities related to the Medieval Fortresses along the River Danube
Status	On-going (October 2009 – June 2010)
Objectives	To enhance the promotion and safeguarding of cultural heritage in Serbia, with special focus on the medieval fortresses along the river Danube; To raise awareness and develop good practices on the management of cultural resources, in order to support the development of sustainable and responsible tourism; To promote a participatory approach in the management, promotion and safeguarding of cultural heritage.
Activities	The activity, which will focus on 7 fortresses along the river Danube (…) is divided into two main topics, strictly interrelated and synergic: Definition of promotional materials Creation, designing and publishing of an interactive web-portal dedicated to the fortresses; Realisation of a travelling exhibition on the fortresses Awarennes-raising and capacity-building actions Definition, preparation and organization of thematic workshops in each one of the 7 sites included in the itinerary of the above-mentioned web-portal and exhibition. The workshops will bring together central and local institutions, experts, researchers, professionals, together with representatives of the civil society and local communities. The final aim of the workshops is the definition of a joint strategy for the promotion and safeguarding of the fortresses. Tentative calendar: What is a cultural itinerary? (Bac, 21-22. December, 2009) How to manage a cultural destination? (Novi Sad, 17-18. January, 2010) How to balance protection, social benefit and economic impact? (Belgrade, 28-29. January, 2010) Sources of financing and approaching the donors (Smederevo, 18-19 February, 2010) Presentation of the project for Golubac fortress (Golubac, 4-5 March, 2010) Networking with stakeholders at local and regional level, finding partners in CER and CEI region (Veliko Gradiste, 25-26 March, 2010) Summarizing the training programme and following steps (Kladovo, 8-9 April, 2010) Definition, preparation and organization of a final conference inteded to present the conclusions, outcomes, and results of the above-mentioned workshops (June 2010)
