Fourth Ministerial Conference on Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe

(10 September 2007)

Family PhotoOn 10 September 2007 the Ministry of Culture of Croatia, in collaboration with UNESCO, hosted the fourth Ministerial Conference on Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe.
Ministers of Culture of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia met in Zadar, Croatia, in order to reaffirm and reinforce regional cooperation for the enhancement of the shared cultural heritage.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Francoise Riviere, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture.

Objective of the conference was the further strengthening of regional cooperation for the protection and promotion of South-East European cultural legacy, to be intended as a shared value as well a resource for supporting dialogue, cultural diversity, and sustainable development.
The conference also served to provide guidance and resources for future activities to be realised as operational follow-up to the conference, with special attention to the implementation of the new Italian contribution to the Trust Fund for Cultural heritage in SEE, amounting to €800.000.
The new contribution confirms and re-launches the commitment of the Italian government to support cultural cooperation in the region, thus increasing the overall financial contribution by Italy to the framework of the Ministerial conferences up to a total of €1.600.000.
